SILCHER

On March 22, 2016 just after sunset, in the arms of his loving wife, Janice, Hinz Silcher left this earth for a better place. Hinz had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and spent the last few months in a valiant fight.
Hinz was the first in the Silcher Family to be born in Canada to Helmut and Wilma Silcher (both deceased). He made his entrance on July 23, 1958. Hinz was a friend to all and had a heart of gold. His intentions were always good and he brought much happiness to those around him.
Hinz was a wonderful family man. He married Janice Roseth on March 15, 1997 and proudly proclaimed that he got a package deal; “two wonderful women” for the price of one. This is where Shannon also became an important addition to his life. He bragged that he never had to change a diaper and that marrying later in life came with some additional perks. After Shannon’s marriage he became a proud grandpa to his “three boys”. His hugs, kisses, tickles and laughter will be missed.
Hinz and Jan, along with his trusted buddies Fritz and Angus, spent the last 5 winters in Parker, Arizona. In August, he would already be counting down the days. In Parker, they took long ATV rides through the desert and spent lazy afternoons floating on the Colorado River in their boat. He will be missed by his many friends in the Parker area for his great hospitality, friendship and the fun that he infused at every event.
He was a man of many work talents: journeyman carpenter, innovator, licensed realtor but his work passion was concrete. He spent many years supervising the work on several of the large concrete grain elevators and wind turbines that dot the prairies. For the last 6 years he worked for Pasquale Mancuso Construction. His last project was in Ft. Mac where he supervised his crew until Janice picked him up to take him back to Medicine Hat for medical treatment. He will be missed for keeping his crew on time, on task and having fun.
Remaining to cherish his smiles, laughter and memories are:
His Wife: Janice
His Daughter: Shannon (Jason) Beattie
His Grandsons: Airik, Gavin, Caleb
His Siblings: Hannelore (Gerald) Kulpe, Willi (Connie) Silcher,
Rita (Dave) Olsen, Monika (Eddie) Doehring
His Mother-in-Law: Mavis Roseth
His Brothers and Sisters-in-Law: Linda (Gary) Butz,
Dwayne (Alton) Temple Roseth, Garth Roseth
He also leaves to mourn his passing numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed for his elephant noises, getting down and dirty on the floor playing with the kids and just being our very special Uncle Hinz.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society 1865 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 1Z8 or to the charity of your choice. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to: pattfh@telusplanet.net subject heading: Hinz Silcher, or you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com and leave a message of condolence.
Funeral Arrangements are by the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM 540 South Railway St. SE, Medicine Hat T1A 4C2
