Secondary highway closed near TCH after tractor trailer catches fire

Cypress County fire officials had to briefly shut down Highway 524 near the Trans-Canada on Tuesday afternoon to extinguish a fire on a tractor trailer that was hauling hay bales.

The bulletin was issued at about 2:30 p.m., with officials saying the secondary highway was closed between the Range Road 74 and Highway 1.

Active COVID cases in southwest Saskatchewan dropped below 10 on Tuesday for the first time since Aug. 2.

One new case in the combined health zone left the number of cases in the Swift Current sub-zone to five and the Maple Creek subzone to four.

Active cases in the region of 38,000 residents peaked at 282 on Oct.2, but has sat below 40 since the end of that month.
