Voting opens today for the Sirius XM Top of the Country Contest.

The annual competition searches the country for the best up-and-coming country acts, providing a launchpad for new Canadian talent.

Medicine Hat-area country artist Morgan Klaiber advanced to the semifinal round in February.

Semifinalists travelled to Toronto and Vancouver to record a song and produce a music video as a part of the contest.

Klaiber’s song and video will be released today. Starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until 9:59 p.m. Apr. 14, voters can have their say online at topcountry.siriusxm.ca. Votes can also be cast by letter mail postmarked no later than Apr. 10.

There is a limit of one vote per each 24-hour period in which voters can cast a ballot.

The three artists who advance to the final round will be invited to perform at a number of high-profile festivals. The champion of the contest will take home a grand prize of $25,000 this fall.

Klaiber hopes to be the second consecutive winner from the Medicine Hat area after Bow Island native Noeline Hoffman won last year’s contest.

Morgan Klaiber’s music is available on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. She is sharing contest updates on her social media channels at Morgan Klaiber Music on all platforms.
