The best of the best for this year’s Medicine Hat Rotary Music Festival hit the stage this evening for the 2026 Rose Bowl.
Over the course of the past two weeks, adjudicators from across the province and beyond have heard countless young performers across various categories, carefully selecting those to set their sights on provincial festivals and who to showcase tonight.
“The Rose Bowl is shaping up to be a wonderful concert. We have recommendations for choral, speech, composition, vocal, piano, musical theatre, woodwind, guitar and violin this year,” said executive director Delynne Lorentzen. “These kids work so hard all year and are so talented.”
Unlike the rest of the festival, which has taken place split between St. Barnabas Church and St. John’s Presbyterian Church, the Rose Bowl will return to form and take place at the Medicine Hat College theatre starting at 7 p.m.
Lorentzen says this helps to create a more curated, concert-like atmosphere for residents to see the hard work of the youth of the region.
“I’s always such a great evening,” said Lorentzen. “This is the community’s chance to come out, see a snapshot of the various disciplines and support the youth in Medicine Hat who are the community members of the future. It’s a great showcase and a truly enjoyable evening for everyone.”
This marks the penultimate event for the 2026 festival, with only the Stars of the Festival, where the Rose Bowl winner will be announced, remaining on Sunday starting at 7 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church.
