A major agricultural manufacturing company is relocating the base of operations for one of its divisions from Ontario to Medicine Hat.
S3 AWS Airbar, a division of S3 Group Ltd., will be moved to Medicine Hat from Mitchell, Ont. in a transition that will occur over the coming months.
S3 Group Ltd. opened a production facility in the Hat in 2023 with support form the Government of Alberta’s Investment and Growth Fund. The facility spans more than 20,000 square feet in the city’s SW Light Industrial area.
At the time of opening, the facility employed about a dozen people, with an expectation that the workforce could grow to 100 positions within five years.
The company builds grain aeration fans, pneumatic systems for air seeders and combine airbars.
“Relocating S3 AWS Airbar operations to our Medicine Hat production facility will modernize our product development and streamline our manufacturing and distribution,” said CEO Richelle Andreas.
Andreas says the move was planned ahead of the in-season period to minimize disruptions for customers and ensure continuity of service.
S3 Group Ltd. is headquartered in Swift Current. It says this relocation aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to advance innovation and support sustainable agricultural practices.
The company has been operating for nearly 60 years.
