After more than two weeks of unusual warmth, weather is set to revert to winter in Medicine Hat this week.

Hatters have enjoyed daytime highs over zero degrees since Jan. 29, but the mid-winter warm spell is coming to an end this week, with snowy conditions and cold temperatures expected to return Tuesday.

According to a special weather statement issued by the Government of Canada, there is a 30 per cent change of flurries beginning late in the morning in Medicine Hat, and a forecast of blowing snow late in the afternoon.

Hatters can expect as much as five to 10 centimetres of snow Tuesday, with winds gusting up to 70 km/h in the afternoon.

With the snow and the wind, temperatures are expected to fall to -13 by Tuesday afternoon and continue dropping, for a high of just -19 Wednesday.

Average maximum temperatures for the month of February hover just below zero degrees Celsius, with average minimums between -10 and -15. It is expected that highs will return to this level by the start of next week.
