From cycling, walking the dog or getting outside to study for upcoming exams, Hatters are taking advantage of the warm February so far and have been spotted outside enjoying the record high temperatures.
On Wednesday, Environment Canada reported Medicine Hat reached 18.1C at 4 p.m., setting a new daily high temperature, breaking that set back in 1992 when temperatures rose to 15.7C.
The coldest day ever recorded in Medicine Hat also landed on Feb. 4 when temperatures plunged to -46.1C back in 1887.
If forecasters are correct, today’s temperatures will also be breaking records in Medicine Hat. Environment Canada is calling for a mainly sunny day with a high of 18C.
Previously on Feb. 5 the highest temperature recorded in Medicine Hat was 12.2C in 1991.
Conditions should stay above seasonal conditions throughout the week and into the weekend before forecasters are predicting a drop back to around freezing next week.
