City staff on Monday will provide council data on all outstanding motions for all standing committees to gain background on previous motions passed and determine the next steps moving forward.
During its last public meetingJan. 5, council approved a motion to direct staff to provide a list of all outstanding motions left unresolved by past councils, as well as a complete list of outstanding and upcoming budget capital projects and major operating expenses.
Staff will also provide council information on relevant policies and bylaws for each city committee.
“It’s just really an opportunity for this council to wrap their head around motions and projects that have been approved and that have not started yet,” Coun. Yusuf Mohammed said at the Jan. 5 meeting. “So it’s an opportunity for this council to kind of see what’s going on and ask questions before approving it.”
To organize all the requested information, council directed staff to present data in separate sections, by committee.
“Because the committees are required to monitor their own areas, it isn’t necessarily clear to the committees which items are within their scope,” said Mayor Linnsie Clark.
Only one item of new business has been posted on council agenda thus far.
Councillors are expected to vote to approve the appointment of Coun. Stewart Young as Acting Mayor for the period of Feb. 3 to March 19.
Council sits Monday at 6:30 p.m. in chambers at city hall.
