The Medicine Hat Boxing Club was in action over the weekend.
The local club fought at a show in Calgary hosted by Olympus Boxing.
Zac Czember lost a close bout to Cedric Martinez from Calgary Boxing in the 35kg class, a loss by unanimous decision coach Kerry Fahlman says.
Jacob Walne defeated Alex Merkin from BlackRock Red Deer in the 60kg. Open Jr. C division by unanimous decision.
Nate Vossler defeated Cesar Medina from Southpaw in the Open Elite 60 kg by split decision.
Quincy McComeau defeated Jacob Datu from Olympus in the 65 kg novice Elite by first round stoppage.
“All our boxers fought well,” Fahlman said.
The next action for the Boxing Club is the locally hosted Nieman Page Memorial/Alberta Silver Gloves tournament Jan. 24 and 25th at the Medicine Hat Lodge. They will have teams coming from Nova Scotia as well as all four western provinces.
