Adam Massini, 40, from Lethbridge faces several charges after he was arrested by local police following a report of a shoplifting complaint on Thursday morning.
Members of the Medicine Hat Police Service Patrol Section identified and arrested Massini, who had an outstanding warrant and was in possession of a concealed replica semi-automatic pistol, while responding to the call at a business on Strachan Road.
Police say the semi-automatic replica resembled that of a police officer’s sidearm and further investigation revealed the suspect was also in possession of a stolen identity document.
Massini has been charged with three counts of failure to comply with a release order, disobeying a court order, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of stolen identity documents.
Massini was held for a judicial interim release hearing and was subsequently remanded into custody with his next court appearance scheduled Sept. 29.
