Nominate a class to receive a Valentine’s Day visit from Sparky

This upcoming Valentine’s Day two classes from kindergarten to Grade 3 will receive a special visit from Sparky the Fire Dog after the Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services announced the online contest Tuesday.

Several classes have already been nominated on the fire services Facebook page to receive a visit from the friendly dalmatian who serves as the official mascot of the Nation Fire Protection Association.

Sparky is an expert on fire prevention and often visits schools to teach fire safety to children, parents and educators, and also has a website with activities for students.

Residents are encouraged to nominate a class to receive a visit from Sparky by visiting Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services on Facebook and leave a comment tagging a friend or teacher, as well as answering a question related to testing smoke alarms.

The two winning classes will be contacted next Tuesday, Feb. 11.
