Families looking to enrol their children in any MHPSD school, learning opportunity, academy or child care program for the 2025-26 school year can begin the registration process starting early Tuesday morning.
Parents and guardians of currently registered students will also automatically receive an invitation that includes all the appropriate links to register via email over the next few days.
To prepare for the online registration process all current families will need to have access to their PowerSchool Parent Portal account. Parents and guardians are advised to call their child’s school if they forgot their ID or password, or are having issues logging into the Parent Portal.
School division officials have told the News they are confident that all data on PowerSchool, a cloud-based software program that helps schools manage student information, has been secured following a large-scale cyber attack that affected schools in Medicine Hat among hundreds of other school divisions throughout Canada and the U.S. last month.
Online registration will also open for a variety of educational programs and opportunities, including the divisions STEM School and Fine Arts School as well as its many academy options, including the new 76 Hockey and Ringette Academy.
Families will also be able to register kindergarten aged children into the MHPSD’s Play and Learn program that will be offered at a significant discount after licensing the child-care program and accessing affordable child-care grants and subsidies.
Online registration for new students, as well as programs, academies and Play and Learn will open at 7 a.m. on Feb. 4.
Families with returning students who have not received an email by Tuesday are asked to log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal Account and click on the SchoolEdnagae icon on the left-hand menu. There you will be able to access registration forms assigned to you.
Parents registering a new student can log on to the PowerSchool Parent Portal Account and click the same SchoolEngage icon. Here you can click on the ‘+ Add Student’ tab and follow the prompts.
Once you have completed the new student registration you will see a new form posted. The division states, “please read carefully and only complete one form.”
Families without a PowerSchool Parent Portal account are asked to contact their students’ school for assistance.
“Please note that we will be experiencing a high call volume, and if you do not reach us, we will return your call within 24 hours.”
Parents can also follow a step-by-step process on PowerSchool if they are unsure of their username or password. More information can be found on the division webpage at mhpsd.ca.
