Registration has opened for Medicine Hat’s Jam Pail bonspiel as it hits a milestone year.
The free community event is entering its 60th season and those interested in participating at the two-day event are able to register their teams of four.
The Jam Pail bonspiel is meant to teach the basic concept of curling, with the ice at the Kinplex converted into 13 curling rinks.
Students in Grades 3 and 4 compete against one another on Feb. 19 and Grade 5 and 6 students face off on Feb. 19. The Open category, which was introduced for the bonspiel’s 50th anniversary, runs both days.
The school-aged teams are made up of four players from the grade designations with a designated adult supervisor. The open/all age teams are made up of four players and must have at least one adult player. Teams of adults are also accepted.
Those interested can register on the City’s website, with the deadline to register on Feb. 10.
