The Medicine Hat Police Service released a light-hearted online video providing safety tips for trick-or-treaters tonight featuring Const. Kinsi Steiger.
During the two-minute video published on YouTube and posted on the services Facebook page, Steiger provides several Halloween tips that include:
– Costume safety – Be sure the costume fits and is not a tripping hazard, make sure it fits and provides visibility. Use -reflective tape, glow sticks or a flashlight so others can see you.
– Street safety – Complete trick-or-treating on one side of the street before crossing the road, make sure to look both ways.
– Personal safety – Always trick-or-treat in groups and only go to houses that are well-lit. Never go into a strangers home. – Parents please inspect any candy before allowing children to eat it. Be sure to make sure treats are in their original packaging and are not tampered with.
– Traffic safety – Slow down and watch out for children. “Please remember it’s an exciting time for these kiddos,” says Steiger. Adults celebrating Halloween are reminded to seek a sober ride home.
