Lines into the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede grounds nearly wrapped around the parking lot for entry into the festivities Friday, in no small part due to Methanex Kiddies’ Day.
Pioneer Village was filled with games, a scavenger hunt and various activities offered for families for no additional cost, allowing for families to make summer memories with their young children.
“Kiddies’ Day is an event we’ve sponsored for a number of years, we’re really excited to be back here,” said Danielle Semrau-McLean, manager of stakeholder relations for Methanex. “It’s a great free family event with lots of different activities for kids. For us, it’s also a good opportunity to get out in the community.”
Semrau-McLean was pleased to highlight a longstanding partnership with Praxis Science Outreach, which was once again out with a variety of take-home experiments as a stop on the scavenger hunt.
“It’s great to see so many kids of all ages stop by and try the activities and really seem to enjoy it,” said Patty Rooks, senior scientific consultant. “Especially since, when you come to Stampede, you aren’t really thinking about science, but science is everywhere.”
Rooks showed off a series of different experiments, some of which were already low on supplies at the time due to interest, and said she was also pleased to be able to connect with teachers who are getting ready for the new school year.
