@MedicineHatNews A listing of some events happenings in Medicine Hat and area on the June 8 weekend and the following week: – Community View Lions Club will host the first in a series of barbecues at Golden Sheaf Park on Sat. June 8 to raise funds for club projects and activities. A scavenger hunt will see rubber ducks distributed throughout the park, each to be exchanged for a free hot dog from noon until 6 p.m. A variety of food will be available. Future dates include June 22, July 6 and 20, August 3 and 17 and September 1. – “Energy in Motion” to celebrate parks and recreation month on Sat., June 8, local fitness and activity groups, teams and businesses will gather from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Towne Square and Veterans Memorial Riverside Park. Live demonstrations and activities. – Historic church mass, supper put on by the Blumenfeld (Sask.) & District Heritage society at the Church and Shrine to Our lady of Sorrows near Prelate on June 9, beginning at 2 p.m. with a Rosary and outdoor mass at 3 p.m., then supper. All are welcome to bring flower baskets, lawn chairs, umbrellas and bug spray. Donations accepted to “refresh and landscape the cemetery” by mail to “Blumenfeld Heritage Site” C/O Box 104, Leader, Sask. S0N-1H0. The church opens each Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. from July 7 to Sept. 1. – Southeastern Alberta Watershed Alliance annual general meeting will be held Tuesday, June 11 at the Medicine Hat Stampede fireside room from 7 to 9 p.m. Substantial bylaw changes proposed.
