The Medicine Hat High Hawks senior boys baseball team took care of business Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks won both of their contests at McCoy Field, beating the LCI Rams 5-1 and then topping the Raymond Comets 5-2.

Matt Getz led the offence with three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs, capped off with a second inning home run. Ryler Straarup added an RBI, run scored and a hit.

On the mound, Cade Much started the contest and recorded eight strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched. Straarup took over on the bump and punched out seven batters in 3.2 innings of work.

The Hawks’ offence was more balanced in their second game, with four hitters collecting a hit each. Straarup and Moch each had a hit, RBI and run scored and Talen Crockford added a hit and RBI.

Parker Hunt worked a complete game with five innings pitched, recording five strikeouts. The usual seven-inning game was limited to five due to Raymond playing extra games during the week.

The Hawks’ next action is Tuesday when they host Kate Andrews Pride at Jeffries Field. First pitch at 6 p.m.
