The Redcliff Youth Centre is looking at the end of May with anticipation, as staff look to host their first steak dinner benefit evening.
May 22 will see interested benefactors gathered at Ralph’s Texas Bar and Steakhouse for dinner, as well as a silent auction, said Janae Ulrich, executive director of the Redcliff Youth Centre.
“A portion of your ticket sales goes back to supporting our agency,” said Ulrich. “So it goes back to supporting the Redcliff Youth Centre in providing the free educational and recreational mental health and wellness programs that we offer here. All of our services and programs and resources are focused on building life skills and ensuring overall wellness.”
The event will also be a highlight for the centre’s sponsors, which make much of the programming possible through their support and various partnerships, said Ulrich.
Currently, the centre has 365 registered youth, from ages 10-17, for which they offer mentorship and a needed third space for the town’s young residents to form bonds and express themselves. Use of the centre’s meal program has also increased.
“We’re going to have some of our youth present, who are going to be walking around talking with a lot of the people that are participating in the event. And then we’re also going to have some of the youth give a couple of testimonials as well,” said Ulrich.
Organization has gone well, and Ulrich is deeply grateful for the assistance of Ralph’s, as well as various businesses and organizations, and the larger community for their contributions to make things go smoothly and their interest in supporting the centre continuing to serve and improve the various programs.
Tickets are still available on the centre’s website for $27 a plate, which will feature steak, fries and a caesar salad. All steaks will be cooked to medium.
