A bank that was repeatedly rammed by a front-end loader before thieves made off with an automatic cash machine was closed for business Monday.
Cypress Credit Union has told customers that its branch in Burstall, Sask. is closed until further notice due to severe damage to the building
“The building has sustained extensive damage from theft of the ATM machine,” is said according to a social media post. “We have deployed several resources to get the building fixed and are assessing the damage.”
The Leader RCMP detachment says the damage occurred at 4:16 a.m. on Sunday morning after a front-end loader and pickup truck used to haul it was taken in the days before from an undisclosed location.
The release states the business was hit multiple times by the large machine, destroying the business’s front office and lobby. The ATM and a sum of cash within it was stolen.
Investigation has determined the front loader was stolen from Burstall early on Dec. 17, and the truck used to haul the ATM was stolen from Leader late on Dec. 16.
