The Fury finished third at the Bob Campbell Classic held in Cochrane this weekend. They started the tournament with a 9-9 tie against Sherwood Park. Both Evangeline Robins and Ally Martin scored three times, with Brinley Cross and Kassidy Etienne each scoring as well. Danna Sawchuk was in net. Their next game was against the host Cochrane, falling 7-6. Robins was in net and the offence came from Etienne with three goals, Martin with two and Olivia Ulbricht adding a solo marker of her own. The Fury took on Indus in their third game with Robins in net, falling 14-10. The offence was again led by Etienne with five goals. Arika MacDowall, Ulbricht, Peyton Howes and Martin each scored a goal as well. After round-robin play, the Fury played for the bronze medal against Sherwood Park, winning third place with an 11-5 victory. Sawchuk was in net and the offence was led by Howes with four goals. Etienne had a hat trick, Cross scored twice and all three of Martin, Ulbricht and MacDowall scored. The Fury will be in action again on Saturday at home against Lethbridge. U14 The Medicine Hat U14 Mayhem played a double header in Calgary against Bow View. In the first game, Jacqueline LeBlanc was in net and the Mayhem lost 5-1 with their only goal coming from Breanna Lanuk. In their second game against Bow View, Medicine Hat lost 4-3. Goals were scored by Brea Butterfield, Sloane Berstad and Lacey Gibney. The Medicine Hat Mayhem are off until Jan. 21 where they will play a double header against Airdrie at the Moose Recreation Centre. Open The Medicine Hat Open Smash played two games in the Calgary Open Ringette League in Stavely on Saturday. Their first game was against the Calgary Gladiators, an 11-3 win. Later that day the Smash played Calgary Avalanche and prevailed 10-2. Kayty Leidal led the way on the weekend with seven goals. Kailyn Baum had five goals over the weekend with Mahala Boychuk adding four, Nicona Leidal with three and Allison Mason adding a goal of her own. Tyler Leidal was the goalie in their first game and Mark Fisher was between the pipes in the second contest. The Smash are undefeated in the CORA League at 8-0. The new year brings more CORA league games, a tournament in Leduc and then provincial finals in March. U10 The U10 Step 1 Gators Gold and Green were in action this weekend in Airdrie and Strathmore. Goaltending duties were split in their first game, with Hallie V in net to start and Hudson between the pipes in the second half. Their offence came from Avery, Rozlyn and Hailee K. Against Strathmore, Hallie K was in net to start and Rozlyn was in net for the second half. Goals came from Harper, Avery and Hailee K. They host Indus Lightning this weekend at the Moose. The U10 Step 3 Gators were in league action in Airdrie and Okotoks this weekend. The Gators played Airdrie Saturday morning and lost. The lone Gator goal was scored by Charlie Lowe. Lexxon Martinez stood tall in net in the loss. They travelled to Okotoks for their second game, picking up their second loss of the weekend. Isabelle Perrault found the back of the net for the single Gator goal in that game and Eris Davies was between the pipes. The Step 3 Gators have league games Sunday at the Moose, their last before the Christmas break. 29
