Your Cinema Needs You, a documentary about the Monarch Theatre by Luke Fandrich of Editing Luke, will be showing at the end of the month.
It’s been a long wait for Fandrich to get the movie screened, but he always wanted it to premier at the Monarch and is pleased it is going to happen soon at the reopening of the theatre.
“The Monarch is in the process of getting ready, they are fixing up the concession and working on the heating system,” said Fandrich. “We are calling it a soft opening because they don’t quite know what’s going to follow this yet. There’s work to be done, but I think there is a push to finally have this (the documentary) out there and get people aware the Monarch is back.”
The film is a full-length documentary retracing the entire history of the Monarch Theatre, from when it was built in 1911 to present day. The story covers all the eras the Monarch has survived through, from silent films to the digital age, giving it an element of film history.
“It’s a reintroduction to the Monarch Theatre in general,” stated Fandrich. “This is really the beginning of the Monarch’s next chapter, this is something we want people to look back on as this was the plan that stuck, the one that worked.”
Your Cinema Needs You will be on at the Monarch Theatre for three screenings on Dec. 28, 29 and 30 at 7 p.m. On sale starting today, tickets are $15 plus fees and must be purchased online at editingluke.com as the Monarch currently doesn’t have a ticketing system set up. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the film starting at 7 p.m. with a runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes.
