Dave Siverns, a singer/songwriter who intersects faith with his art, is releasing a full-length Christmas album in Medicine Hat on Dec. 1. The album contains classic carols and new originals that invite listeners deeper into the Christmas story. Accompanying the album is a book filled with visual art and written pieces by friends of Siverns.
“I’m so excited to be coming to Medicine Hat and sharing these songs on the day the album releases,” stated Siverns. “These songs are all about presence, but a different kind than we often think of at Christmas – us being with one another, and God being with us. I can’t think of a better way of celebrating presence than to share space, pause and listen together as we enter into the wonder and beauty of the Christmas season.”
While Siverns’ home base is in Hamilton, Ont., he completed his undergraduate degree in Saskatchewan. He’s also worked as a pastor in Lethbridge and spent time in Vancouver completing a Masters in Arts and Theology at Regent College. Siverns has led music in churches across Canada and has released two previous albums.
The album release is at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 at St. John’s Presbyterian Church. Minister of the church, Rev. Jeff Lacky, said, “We as a church are excited to host Dave in his return to Alberta. His album release will set the mood for our journey to Christmas and give everyone a chance to begin their celebrations in the ‘Presence’ of art, story and song.”
