Barb Moll and Cave Starling took home the hardware at the fifth annual Welltraxx Yardstick Tournament on Sunday at the Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling Club.
“The yardstick tournament this year was a pairs tournament with competitors drawing a different partner before each game. In yardstick, every bowl that is within a yard of the jack, scored a point,” said Curt Moll in an email from the Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling Club. “The closest bowl was awarded an additional bonus point and that team took the mat for the next end. Participants’ scores for all three games counted towards their aggregate score.”
Moll bested the women’s field with a score of 85, followed by Linda Bower at 84. Yvonne Sanregret and Jean Bresee tied for third with 59.
Starling claimed the men’s title with a score of 72, followed by Wes Bresee and Doug Sanregret who tied for second with 65 points. Sam Ferrier was third with a score of 63.
The field featured 12 competitors who played three games of eight ends.
