The U15 Medicine Hat Saamis Rotary Majestics fell short at their provincial tournament over the weekend.
The Majestics finished in second place at the Baseball Alberta 15UAA Tier 1 Provincial Championship in Lethbridge over the weekend, losing 10-6 in the finals against the Stettler Storm.
Dane Brooks led the Majestics’ offence in the finals Sunday afternoon, knocking in two RBIs on one hit. Ayden Andersen started the game and recorded a strikeout in his 1.1 innings of work. Asha Frey worked 3.2 innings on the mound and picked up five strikeouts before handing the ball off to Bennet Anderson who pitched the remaining inning for the Majestics.
Before the finals on Sunday, the Majestics opened provincials with a 7-5 loss Friday against the Black Gold 47’s. Frey registered two RBIs on one hit in the loss. Ayden Andersen started the gamed recorded five strikeouts in three innings pitched. Riley Tweten worked the fourth and fifth innings, recording one strikeout. Ty Meyer took over to pitched the final two innings of the game, picking up two strikeouts.
The Majestics picked up their first win of the weekend Saturday morning, beating the Slave Lake Heat 14-1. Frey registered two RBIs on three hits and scored three times. Brooks, Mason Heintz and Meyer each knocked in two RBIs. Heintz started the game and worked four innings with a strikeout. Ryan Ziebart pitched the final inning for the win.
They carried the momentum into Saturday afternoon, beating the Lethbridge YQL Sluggers 15-8. Josh Rolheiser carried the game for the Majestics, recording five RBIs on two hits and a run scored. He also struck out out six batters in his four innings pitched as Medicine Hat’s starter. Meyer worked the final three winnings, recording two strikeouts.
The Majestics earned their trip to the finals with a 12-8 win Sunday morning against the Red Deer Braves. Rolheiser led the offence for the second game in a row, knocking in three RBIs on two hits with two runs scored. Brooks registered two RBIs on three hits with two runs scored. Tweten started the game and recorded three strikeouts in his four innings pitched. Ziebart worked the final three innings with three strikeouts.
