SAHA men look to bounce back after road weekend

The South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 men’s team heads into tonight’s contest looking to get back into the win column.

SAHA hosts the Northern Alberta Xtreme tonight for a 6:45 p.m. contest at Big Marble Go Centre as they try to bounce back from a three-loss weekend on the road.

On Friday, SAHA faced the Burnaby Winter Club and lost 7-2. Medicine Hat product Josiah Jackson had both SAHA goals and Zach Zahara made 25 saves in the loss.

Saturday they lost 8-2 against the Rink Kelowna Hockey Academy. Kadon McCann and Noah Dziver had SAHA’s goals and Zahara had 27 saves.

In their final game of the weekend, SAHA lost 5-2 against the Delta Hockey Academy. Julien Laqua and Jackson had the offence for the local academy, Zahara had 21 saves in his third start of the weekend.

After tonight’s game, the SAHA men’s team (20-9-0-2) next action is Feb. 28 against the International Hockey Academy at Big Marble.

The SAHA women’s team had one game over the weekend, beating Edge Hockey School 4-2 Friday night.

Tea Pearce led the way with two goals and an assist while Kendal Davidson and Ryan Harvey-Zenk each added a goal. Devyn Amundson made 32 saves in the win.

The SAHA women’s team (11-9-0-1) have a four pack of road games this weekend that got underway this morning against RHA Winnipeg. They face St. Mary’s Academy on Friday, Edge School on Saturday and have a rematch with RHA Winnipeg on Sunday.
