Minor Hockey roundup: U18AA Hounds drop last game before holidays

The Medicine Hat U18AA Hounds head into their Holiday break coming off a 4-2 loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday.

Jacob Hazzard and Joey Hackett scored for the Hounds with Silas Currie turning aside 25 fo the 29 shots he faced.

The Hounds (6-10-2) sit in fifth place of the SCAHL South division and aren’t in action again until Jan. 7.

U17

The U17AAA SEAC Tigers were undefeated over the weekend, tying the Calgary Bulls 3-3 in overtime Saturday before beating the Lethbridge Hurricanes 9-1 on Sunday.

Will Bell had a goal and two assists for the Tigers in Saturday’s draw, with Slade McFadzen and Kellin Hodgson each adding a goal of their own. Kayne Wright made 23 saves in 65 minutes of action.

In Sunday’s bloated win, Kayden Yeaman led the way with three goals and three assists. Bell had two goals and four assists, Hodgson added two goals and an assist and Randen Collier and Treyson Girletz each scored a goal. Kolter Gans was between the pipes and stopped 22 shots for the win.

The U17AAA Tigers (6-7-2-1) sit in eighth place of the AEHL’s South division and get their season started up again on Jan. 7.

U16

The U16AA Medicine Hat Hounds split their weekend of games, winning 5-2 Friday against the CBHA Hawks before falling 71 Saturday against the NWCAA Bronks.

Leighton Verishine and Jaxon Scrivener’s goals were the only offence registered from the game. Parker McLaughlin made 27 saves in the win.

In the Hounds loss on Saturday, Jaxon Scrivener had their lone goal and Adam Ranger made 50 saves. The U16AA Hounds (7-3-4) sit in third place in their division. Their next game is set for Jan. 7.

U15

The U15AA SEAC Tigers were undefeated over the weekend, tying the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-4 Friday before beating the Golden Suns 4-0 on Saturday.

Brogan Verishine had two goals in Friday’s draw with Mavric Ward and Karter Kurpjuweit each adding a goal, Liam Green had two assists. Mac Harvey-Zenk made 28 saves between the pipes.

Rhyder Arnold and Kurpjuweit led the way offensively Saturday with a goal and an assist each. Griffin Aadland and Kian Lang each added a goal and Kane Bishop and Verishine each had two assists. Kayden Van Ham turned aside all 22 shots he faced.

The U15AA Tigers (3-11-4) sit in fourth place of the SCAHL South conference and will get back in action on Jan. 7.
