The courts at the Medicine Hat Tennis Club were in full throttle Saturday.
The club hosted the annual Junior Singles Tournament Saturday with 44 juniors participating in open and rookie divisions.
In the eight-and-under division, Eli Streifel won the open side 3-2 against Nash Portelance. Nolan Funk took first in the rookie division with Hendrix Portelance finishing second.
Asher Streifel won the 11-and-under open division 4-1 against Ethan Mann. Onyka Funk took the 11-and-under rookie division, 4-1 against Nixon Miller.
In the 14-and-under division, Mike Fentabil won the open final 6-0 against Isaac Streifel. Dani Gazdag took first in the rookie division with Victoria Rooks taking second.
Mak Howes won the 18-year-old and under open division against Danylo Choryl 6-0.
The tennis club’s next event is the Barrie Shave Tennis Classic fundraiser, starting Wednesday and running through Sunday. The club’s annual Fathers Day tournament features men’s and women’s doubles competition with open and intermediate categories in support of The Canadian Cancer Society, The Margery Yuill Cancer Centre, and the Tennis Club’s junior development program.
