Roughly one year ago, Stuart Lecrerar set out to create a model of the Battle of Borodino, a conflict which took place during Napoleon’s 1812 invasion of Russia, on 1:72 scale. With the 4,300-figurine project now complete, Lecrerar hopes it will bring joy to the community.
“The reason I do these it to put them on display,” Lecrerar told the News.
He hopes the 12-by-5-foot model will take residence at a local seniors’ or community centre, where the public, especially history-buffs, can take their time and examine it.
“I hope they’re as much in awed looking at this as I am,” said Lecrerar, who has been building models since his childhood.
Lecrerar plans to make one more model before he finally hangs up his paint brushes, however he won’t begin the new project right away. Instead, he intends to rest for the next few months.
