Tempo take Allemand with second pick in expansion draft, Canada’s Carleton goes first

By Canadian Press on April 3, 2026.

TORONTO — The Toronto Tempo selected guard Julie Allemand with their first pick of the WNBA expansion draft.

The five-foot-eight guard was taken from the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Portland Fire chose Bridget Carleton of Chatham, Ont., with the first overall pick.

Toronto won a coin toss last week and elected to take the higher pick – sixth instead of seventh – in the WNBA Draft on April 13.

As a result, the Fire got to pick first overall in the expansion draft.

The Tempo will tip off their season on May 8 against the Washington Mystics at the Coca-Cola Coliseum.
