UQTR blanks Moncton to reach U Sports men’s hockey semifinals

HALIFAX — The UQTR Patriotes blanked the Moncton Aigles Bleus 4-0 on Friday in men’s hockey quarterfinal play at the U Sports 2026 University Cup.

William Grimard made 27 saves for the shutout.

Kassim Gaudet, Charles Beaudoin and Mathis Cloutier scored in the first period and Conor Frenette added an insurance goal in the third.

UNB and Queen’s were scheduled to play on Friday night at Scotiabank Centre.

The winner will meet UQTR on Saturday.

The host Saint Mary’s Huskies will face off against the Windsor Lancers in the other semifinal.
