Canada’s Einarson downs China 9-3 in women’s world curling championship

CALGARY — Canada’s Kerri Einarson earned a third straight win to start the women’s world championship with a 9-3 victory over China’s Rui Wang.
Wang was a bronze medallist in last year’s world championship.
The Canadians scored two in the first end and three in the fifth to take to control of the game.
Einarson’s foursome out of Manitoba’s Gimli Curling Club faces Denmark’s Madeleine Dupont on Monday.
Einarson seeks a first world title after earning bronze twice in the event.
The top-six teams at the conclusion of pool play advance to playoffs with the top two earning express entry into the semifinals.
