A look at the three Alberta junior hockey players killed in highway crash

STAVLEY, ALTA. — Three members of the Southern Alberta Mustangs junior hockey team in Stavely, Alta., were killed Monday while headed to practice in the town south of Calgary.

RCMP say the small vehicle they were in collided with a semi truck hauling gravel on a highway on the edge of town.

Here’s a look at the players:

JJ Wright

The U.S. Premier Hockey League’s Premier Division website says the 18-year-old left-winger from Kamloops, B.C., played in 25 games this season with the Mustangs. He had one goal and eight assists.

Last year, he played for the Kamloops Jr. Blazers under-18 team.

Cameron Casorso

The 18-year-old goalie, also from Kamloops, B.C., appeared in 10 games this season with the Mustangs. He posted a win-loss-overtime loss record of 4-3-1.

Caden Fine

The 17-year-old centre from Birmingham, Ala., played 23 games this season with the Mustangs, scoring five goals and seven assists.

Before he moved to Canada, he played with Columbus High A and Atlanta Phoenix under-16 teams in the U.S.
