Canadian freestyle skier McEachran claims World Cup slopestyle bronze in Switzerland

LAAX — Canadian freestyle skier Evan McEachran soared to bronze for his first World Cup medal since 2023 in a slopestyle competition Saturday.
McEachran climbed from fifth to third with a score of 82.70 points in his second run, finishing behind gold-medallist Birk Ruud of Norway (85.08) and silver-medallist Matej Svancer of Austria (84.08).
The 28-year-old from Oakville, Ont., is set for his third Olympics at the upcoming Milan Cortina Games after representing Canada in 2018 and 2022.
The men’s slopestyle event begins Feb. 7 and finishes Feb. 10 in Livigno, Italy.
Freestyle skiing star Eileen Gu of China captured gold in the women’s slopestyle Saturday, while Marin Hamill of the United States claimed silver and Austria’s Lara Wolf took bronze.
Elena Gaskell, of Vernon, B.C., was the top Canadian in fifth place.
