Canadians Akheem Mesidor, Logan Taylor will be teammates at Senior Bowl

By Canadian Press on January 15, 2026.

MOBILE — Canadians Akheem Mesidor and Logan Taylor will be teammates at the 2026 Senior Bowl.

Mesidor, a defensive lineman at Miami, and Taylor, an offensive lineman at Boston College, will both be on the American team in the Jan. 31 game, which is U.S. university football’s premier all-star game.

But more important, Mesidor and Taylor will practise all week against some of the top prospects in the 2026 NFL draft.

However, Mesidor’s season isn’t over yet. The six-foot-three, 280-pound Ottawa native is expected to play Monday night when the Hurricanes face top-ranked Indiana in U.S college football’s championship game. Mesidor suffered an elbow injury in Miami’s 31-27 Fiesta Bowl victory over Ole Miss on Jan. 8.

Mesidor has enjoyed a stellar campaign, registering 60 total tackles (36 solo, 15.5 for loss), 10.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles, earning first-team All-ACC honours. Mesidor spent his first two collegiate seasons at West Virginia (2020-21)

The six-foot-seven, 312-pound Taylor was named a team captain this season at Boston College, a career first. The Lunenburg, N.S., native has been a versatile performer the last three seasons for the Eagles, having played left tackle (17 starts), left guard (10), right guard (eight) and right tackle (one).

He was a second-team All-ACC and second team AP All-ACC selection this season. Taylor began his college career at Virginia, where he spent two years.
