MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Phat Phat Brooks scored 20 points as Central Michigan beat Kent State 87-85 on Saturday. Brooks shot 6 for 15 (2 for 5 from 3-point range) and 6 of 7 from the free-throw line for the Chippewas (5-12, 1-4 Mid-American Conference). Keenan Garner added 16 points while going 5 of 7 and 6 of 6 from the free-throw line and had four steals. Tamario Adley shot 6 for 11, including 3 for 5 from beyond the arc to finish with 15 points. The Chippewas ended a five-game skid with the victory. Jahari Williamson led the Golden Flashes (12-4, 3-1) in scoring, finishing with 23 points. Morgan Safford added 20 points and seven rebounds for Kent State. Cian Medley had 14 points and eight assists. Central Michigan went into the half leading Kent State 49-43. Garner scored 10 points in the half.
