DOVER, Del. (AP) — Anthony McComb III’s 23 points helped Norfolk State defeat Delaware State 66-64 on Saturday. Adrean Newton’s layup with nine seconds remaining gave the Spartans a 66-64 lead and they outscored Delaware State 8-2 over the final 2 minutes. McComb shot 7 of 8 from the field, including 3 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 6 for 8 from the line for the Spartans (7-11, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Keyontae Lewis scored 18 points and added five rebounds. Elijah Jamison had 16 points and shot 6 of 9 from the field and 4 for 5 from the line. The Hornets (5-12, 0-2) were led in scoring by Ponce James, who finished with 22 points, five assists and four steals. Corey Perkins added 12 points, four assists and four steals for Delaware State.
