Canada’s Thénault wins World Cup aerials silver in home province

LAC-BEAUPORT — Canadian freestyle skier Marion Thénault won a silver medal on home turf at a World Cup aerials event Tuesday.

Thénault finished second in women’s competition with a score of 81.78 points.

American Winter Vinecki dominated with a score of 93.58, while Emma Weiss of Germany was third with 79.33.

Thénault, who is from Sherbrooke, around 250 kilometres south of Lac-Beauport, won her fourth medal of the World Cup season (two silver, two bronze).

She was the only Canadian to qualify for the women’s final.

Ukraine’s Dmytro Kotovskyi won the gold medal in men’s competition, followed by China’s Sun Jiaxu and Quinn Dehlinger of the United States. Miha Fontaine was the top Canadian in eighth.
