TORONTO — The fear of Shohei Ohtani’s swing is nothing for some Jays fans compared to the risk of missing part of World Series Game 6 because of Halloween festivities.
The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers match-up has some die-hards and bandwagoners shifting around their trick-or-treating and party plans to make room for Friday night’s game.
Barbara MacPhee owns The Cat’s Cradle Sports and Spirits in midtown Toronto, and she’s had to push back the bar’s typical Halloween bash — karaoke and a photo booth — by several hours to account for the game.
She’s just hoping it isn’t another six-and-a-half-hour 18-inning nail-biter like Game 3.
Meanwhile, some party planners have built entire events around the convergence of the holiday and the game.
That’s the case for Club Crawlers organizer Prit Vyas, who swiftly set up Boo Jays Halloween Night, a Jays-gear-mandatory party at The Pint House in downtown Toronto, not far from the Rogers Centre.
Because it wasn’t clear until Tuesday night if the Jays would make it to Game 6, he had to act fast to finalize the event details.
But the event swiftly sold out, and he’s anticipating the bar, which has a 350-person capacity, will be packed.
