A majority of Proline bettors successfully backed the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4 of the World Series.
According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., 71 per cent of bettors picked the Blue Jays to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night to tie the series 2-2, but only 38 per cent had the Jays on the +1.5 runline while just 29 per cent took the under 8.5.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered off Shohei Ohtani to lead Toronto to a 6-2 road win. With just one more contest remaining in California, the win ensured a sixth game will be played Friday night at Rogers Centre.
If required, a seventh and deciding contest will also be played at Rogers Centre on Saturday night.
Toronto is making its first World Series appearance since 1993 when it secured a second straight championship.
The Blue Jays took control of Tuesday night’s contest with four runs in the seventh inning for a 6-1 lead. That chased Ohtani from the contest.
Los Angeles took a 2-1 series lead by outlasting Toronto 6-5 in 18 innings Monday night. The Dodgers took the win on Freddie Freeman’s walk-off homer.
Just 29 per cent of players backed the Dodgers win while same number had Toronto at 1.5 runs. But 75 per cent had the over at 8.5.
Toronto opened the series with an 11-4 home victory, thanks to a nine-run sixth inning. Addison Barger belted a pinch-hit grand slam, the first in World Series history.
A solid 72 per cent of players backed Toronto’s win while 51 per cent correctly picked the Jays runline at +1.5. Seventy-three per cent had the over at 7.5.
Meanwhile, in NFL action the Buffalo Bills defeated the Carolina Panthers 40-9 on Sunday, their first win in three games. Eighty-eight per cent of players backed the Buffalo victory.
The most popular win, though, was the Indianapolis Colts downing the Tennessee Titans 38-14. It’s an outcome 90 per cent of bettors backed with 76 per cent also having the Colts at -14.5.
And 85 per cent of bettors successfully backed the New England Patriots (32-13 win over Cleveland Browns), Philadelphia Eagles (38-20 win over New York Giants) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (23-3 win over New Orleans Saints).
But just 13 per cent of bettors backed the Miami Dolphins’ 34-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons while 16 per cent had the New York Jets earning their first win of the year (39-38 over the Cincinnati Bengals). And just 29 per cent saw the Houston Texans downing the San Francisco 49ers 26-15.
On Sunday night, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 35-25. They prevented Steelers quarterback and former Packers star Aaron Rodgers from earning a victory over every NFL team.
Just 46 per cent of bettors backed Green Bay’s win while 56 per cent had the Packers on the -2.5 spread. And 78 per cent successfully took the over at 46.5.
On Monday night, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Washington Commanders 28-7. That was music to the ears of the 69 per cent of players who backed the Chiefs’ win while 75 per cent had them on the spread at -10.5.
Another 37 per cent had the under at 48.5.
Meanwhile in NHL action, the Toronto Maple Leafs earned a 4-3 overtime win Saturday over the Buffalo Sabres on John Tavares’ 499th career goal. That followed losses earlier in the week to New Jersey (5-2) and the Sabres (5-3).
A solid 78 per cent of wagers were on the Leafs’ victory over Buffalo while 27 per cent backed the Sabres puckline at +1.5. Another 79 per cent took the over at 6.5.
Also, just 23 per cent of bettors backed the Ottawa Senators’ 7-1 victory over the Washington Capitals while 63 per cent took the Montreal Canadiens in their 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks. And just 29 per cent had the Seattle Kraken in its 3-2 decision over the Edmonton Oilers.
A Proline digital player earned $925.65 on a $3.30 three-pick NFL parlay while another’s $4 wager on a 12-pick NFL/NBA parlay resulted in a $728.51 return.
A retail player won $306 from a $2, two-pick NFL parlay while another earned $576.80 from a $4 bet on a 12-pick NFL-NBA-NHL-World Series parlay.
