Alouettes announce extensions for GM Danny Maciocia, head coach Jason Maas

By Canadian Press on October 20, 2025.

MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes gave general manager Danny Maciocia and head coach Jason Maas two-year contract extensions Monday.

Maciocia, who also serves as Montreal’s senior vice-president of football operations, remains under contract with the CFL club through the 2029 season while Maas’s new deal takes him through the ’28 campaign.

Montreal (10-7) enters the final week of the CFL regular season tied with Hamilton atop the East Division. But the Tiger-Cats can clinch home field for the East final Nov. 8 with a home win Friday night over the Ottawa Redblacks.

Montreal finishes its regular season visiting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday.

Should Montreal and Hamilton end the season tied in the standings, the Ticats would get first based upon winning the season series between the two teams.

Maciocia returned to the Alouettes as GM in January 2020 and named Maas as the team’s head coach in December 2022. Montreal won the Grey Cup in 2023, Maas’s first season at the helm.

The Alouettes have never missed the playoffs under Maciocia as GM.

“I’m thankful for the continued stability that Mr. Pierre Karl Peladeau has brought to this organization,” Maciocia said in a statement in reference to Peladeau, the Alouettes owner. “I’m also grateful that he continues to place his trust in Jason and me,”

Maas has amassed a 33-19-1 record as Montreal’s head coach.

“It’s been a pleasure working with Danny again,” Maas said. “We have a clear understanding of each other’s expectations, and that’s played a big role in our success over the past few seasons.

“I’m proud of the culture we’ve built together, and I look forward to continuing our work together for the foreseeable future.”
