McLaren’s Lando Norris posts fastest lap in third practice at Canadian Grand Prix

MONTREAL — McLaren’s Lando Norris led the third and final practice session ahead of qualifying on Saturday at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Norris clocked a lap of one minute 11.799 seconds at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, edging out Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by just 0.078 seconds. Mercedes driver George Russell rounded out the top three.
Four-time reigning world champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull settled for fifth, while Formula One leader Oscar Piastri of McLaren finished eighth.
Piastri and Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg halted the session for about five minutes after clipping the “Wall of Champions” within seconds of each other.
Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, the lone Canadian on the 20-driver grid, placed 14th.
Qualifying is scheduled for later Saturday afternoon. The race takes place Sunday.
