OTTAWA — Mitch Martin’s second goal of the game, scored at 19:18 of the third period, lifted the underdog Ottawa Gee-Gees past the Toronto Metropolitan Bold 4-3 on Saturday in the first semifinal of the U SPORTS men’s hockey championship at TD Place. The Gee-Gees, seeded eighth headed into the tournament, will face the winner of Saturday’s second semifinal between the second-seeded Saskatchewan Huskies and third-seeded Concordia Stingers. Bradley Chenier and Vincent Labelle also scored for the Gee-Gees, who led 1-0 after the first period and 3-2 heading into the third. Jordan D’Intino, Ian Martin and Tyler Savard scored for the Bold, who will play for bronze on Sunday. Franky Lapenna made 30 saves for the Gee-Gees, while Kai Edmonds had 25 saves for the Bold.
