VAL-D’OR, Que. — Vince Elie capped a two-goal effort by scoring the game-winning marker 1:40 into overtime as the Shawinigan Cataractes squeezed past the Val-d’Or Foreurs 5-4 on Friday in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action. Kody Dupuis, Matvei Gridin and Félix Lacerte also scored for Shawinigan (37-18-3-5). Mathys Fernandez made 30 saves. Noah Reinhart, Philippe Veilleux, Donovan Arsenault and Samuel Fiala replied for Val-d’Or (28-28-6-1). Émile Beaunoyer stopped 24 shots. Tied at 3-3 entering the third period, Fiala broke the tie 1:34 into the frame. Lacerte responded just over a minute later, eventually sending the game to overtime and setting the stage for Elie’s winner. — VOLTIGEURS 4 PHOENIX 2 SHERBROOKE, Que. — Justin Larose netted a power-play goal and a short-handed marker to open the scoring for the Drummondville Voltigeurs as they topped the Sherbrooke Phoenix 4-2. Ethan Gauthier and Nathan Baril also scored for Drummondville (40-17-3-3). Florent Houle and Hugo Primeau replied for Sherbrooke (33-24-2-4). — OCEANIC 5 REMPARTS 1 RIMOUSKI, QUE — Jacob Mathieu and Dominic Pilote each had a goal and an assist as the Rimouski Oceanic cruised past the Quebec Remparts 5-1. Matthew Krayer ended Cournoyer’s shutout bid with 2:20 left in the contest for Saint John (21-42-0). — OLYMPIQUES 4 TIGRES 1 VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Julien Paillé scored his 21st of the season on a third-period power play as the Gatineau Olympiques defeated the Victoriaville Tigres 4-1. Taos Jordan, Isaiah Parent and Jacob Kaine also scored for Gatineau (16-32-8-7), which only needed 10 saves from Iain Wintle.
