SANTIAGO — The Canadian women’s field hockey team slipped to 0-2-0 at the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup on Tuesday, beaten 5-0 by host Chile. Canada is ranked 17th in the world, compared to No. 14 for Chile. Canada lost 2-0 to the 13th-ranked United States on Sunday in its opener at the eight-team tournament, which runs through Sunday. Sara Goodman of Duncan, B.C., and Victoria’s Alexis De Armond both marked their 50th cap Tuesday. It’s the third edition of the FIH Nations Cup, with Canada finishing sixth at the 2024 tournament in Spain. The tournament winner earns a spot in the FIH Pro League, while the lower-ranked teams face potential relegation to the new Nations Cup 2 tournament. Canada, coached by Sheldon Rostron, wraps up Pool A play Thursday against No. 11 Japan. Pool B features No. 10 New Zealand, No. 12 Ireland, No. 15 South Korea and No. 16 Scotland.
