Quebec’s St-Georges downs Manitoba’s Einarson 9-6 in Scotties Tournament of Hearts

THUNDER BAY, Ont. — Quebec’s Laurie St-Georges defeated Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson 9-6 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts to create gridlock atop their pool.

Quebec, Nova Scotia’s Christina Black and Ontario’s Danielle Inglis were tied for first in Pool B at 3-1, while four-time Canadian champion Einarson dropped to 2-1 alongside Manitoba’s Kate Cameron.

Black was an 11-4 winner over Brooke Godsland of Newfoundland and Labrador, while Inglis downed Manitoba’s Kaitlyn Lawes 8-6.

The top three teams in each pool of nine advance to the championship round of six, from which the four Page playoff teams will emerge.

Defending champion Rachel Homan was the only unbeaten team at 3-0 in Pool A and was to face Saskatchewan’s Nancy Martin in the evening draw.

Alberta’s Kayla Skrlik, British Columbia’s Corryn Brown and Martin were 3-1 in Pool A.
