Review into Canadian women’s soccer Olympic drone-spying scandal: What they said

By The Canadian Press on November 12, 2024.

Some reaction to the independent report into drone-spying by the Canadian women’s soccer team at the Paris Olympics:

“The findings of the independent investigator reveal that the drone incident in Paris was a symptom of a past pattern of an unacceptable culture and insufficient oversight within the national teams. This is no longer part of our operations.” – Canada Soccer chief executive officer and general secretary Kevin Blue.

“Quite simply, while players on the national teams performed admirably, cultural standards and management of the programs dating back several years fell short of expectations.” – Blue and Canada Soccer president Peter Augruso.

“Even though the independent investigation has been concluded, there is more to be done to set things on a new course. We will continue to scrutinize the cultural and ethical foundations of our organization and we will dig in to learn more.” – Blue.
