The Canadian Elite Basketball League announced two new executive appointments on Wednesday. Executive vice president John Lashway is becoming the CEBL deputy commissioner and vice president Josh Knoester is now the league’s CEO, commissioner Mike Morreale announced in a press release. Morreale, Lashway and Knoester have all been with the CEBL since its inception in 2017. The league has grown from six to 10 teams since beginning play in 2019. Lashway, who also served as president of the CEBL’s Brampton Honey Badgers, previously held senior leadership positions with the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers and Toronto Raptors, and served as a senior vice president of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. With Lashway’s move to deputy commissioner, Ottawa Blackjacks team president Michael Cvitkovic is moving to Brampton to replace Lashway as president of the Honey Badgers.
