QMJHL roundup: Remparts hit 50-win mark by sinking Sagueneens 5-2

QUEBEC – Theo Rochette’s 41st goal of the year, scored midway through the third period, proved to be the winner as the Quebec Remparts won their 50th game of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season by beating the visiting Chicoutimi Sagueneens 5-2 on Sunday.

Justin Robidas, Mikael Huchette, Kassim Gaudet and Pier-Olivier Roy also scored for the Eastern Conference-leading Remparts. Nathan Gaucher and James Malatesta each had two assists.

Romain Rodzinski and Zachary Gravel scored for the Sagueneens. Thomas Desruisseaux chipped in with two assists.

The Remparts outshot the visitors 38-14 and held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1.

SEA DOGS 4 ISLANDERS 3 (SO)

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Goals by Alex Drover and Eriks Mateiko in the four-round shootout lifted the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Charlottetown Islanders.

Cole Burbidge, Nicolas Bilodeau and Noah Reinhart scored for the Sea Dogs (24-37-4-1) during regulation time. Peter Reynolds chipped in with two assists.

Ross Campbell scored twice for the Islanders (25-31-6-3), while Lucas Romeo netted a single.

The Sea Dogs outshot the Islanders 46-27, but trailed 1-0 after the first and 3-2 heading into the third.

MOOSEHEADS 8 WILDCATS 5

HALIFAX, N.S. – Jordan Dumais and Josh Lawrence each scored twice and added an assist as the Halifax Mooseheads defeated the visiting Moncton Wildcats 8-5.

Mathieu Cataford, Reece Peitzsche, Attilio Biasca and Evan Boucher also scored for the Mooseheads (48-10-4-3), who led 3-2 after the first period and 7-3 heading into the third.

Etienne Morin scored twice for the Wildcats (33-29-1-2), while Maxim Barbashev, Charles Beaudoin and Yoan Loshing scored singles.

TIGRES 5 OCEANIC 3

RIMOUSKI, Que. – Mael Lavigne and Maxime Pellerin each scored twice as the visiting Victoriaville Tigres defeated the Rimouski Oceanic 5-3.

Raphael Blouin also scored for the Tigres (40-18-1-6), while Tommy Cormier added two assists.

William Dumoulin, Julien Beland and Luke Coughlin scored for the Oceanic (32-30-3-1). Xavier Filion chipped in with two assists.

The Tigres held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but were outshot 35-27.

OLYMPIQUES 5 CATARACTES 1

GATINEAU, Que. – Tristan Luneau, Cole Cormier and Alexis Gendron each had a goal and assist as the Gatineau Olympiques dumped the visiting Shawinigan Cataractes.

Antonin Verreault and Riley Kidney also scored for the Olympiques (47-12-4-2), who outshot the Cataractes 49-20.

Alexis Bonefon scored for the Cataractes (28-32-2-3), who trailed 2-0 after the first period and 3-1 heading into the third.
