QMJHL roundup: Tigres unload offence on Armada in 7-2 win

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – Tommy Cormier and Maxime Pellerin each scored two goals and added an assist as the Victoriaville Tigres thumped the visiting Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 7-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Sunday.

Egor Goriunov, Thomas Belgarde and Pier-Olivier Roy also scored for the Tigres (39-17-1-5). Frederic Brunet chipped in with three assists.

Alexis Brisson and Xavier Sarrasin scored for the Armada (22-33-6-2), who were outshot 39-27.

The teams were tied 1-1 after 20 minutes, but the Tigres scored five unanswered goals in the second period to take full control of the contest.

The Tigres were 2-for-2 on the power play and had one short-handed goal. The Armada went 1-for-2 on the power play.

GATINEAU, Que. – Tristan Luneau had a goal and assist and Charles-Antoine Pilote chipped in with two helpers as the Gatineau Olympiques defeated the visiting Sherbrooke Phoenix 5-2.

Antonin Verreault, Zachary Dean, Olivier Nadeau and Samuel Savoie also scored for the Olympiques (44-12-4-2), who were outshot 33-30.

Justin Gill and Joshua Roy scored for the Phoenix (44-13-3-2).

With the win, the Olympiques move into top spot in the Western Conference with 94 points, one point ahead of the Phoenix.

OCEANIC 3 HUSKIES 0

RIMOUSKI, Que. – Patrik Hamrla stopped 35 shots and led the Rimouski Oceanic to a 3-0 win over the visiting Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

Luka Verreault, Jan Sprynar and Alexandre Lefebvre scored for the Oceanic (32-28-2-1), who were outshot 35-25.

Netminder Thomas Couture saved 22 of 24 shots for the Huskies (35-22-4-3).

TITAN 4 SEA DOGS 3 (OT)

BATHURST, N.B. – Ty Higgins third goal of the game, at 4:28 of overtime, lifted the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Saint John Sea Dogs.

Donovan Arsenault also scored for the Titan (19-36-5-3), with Higgins drawing the assist.

Peter Reynolds, Brady Burns and Alex Drover scored for the Sea Dogs (22-36-4-1).

Both teams had 33 shots on goal.

MOOSEHEADS 6 WILDCATS 4

MONCTON, N.B. – Alexandre Doucet scored three goals as the visiting Halifax Mooseheads defeated the Moncton Wildcats 6-4.

Jordan Dumais, Evan Boucher and Attilio Biasca also scored for the Mooseheads (45-10-4-3), who led 2-1 after the first period. The teams were tied 3-3 heading into the third.

Charles Beaudoin, Jonas Taibel, Oscar Plandowski and Maxim Barbashev scored for the Wildcats (31-28-1-2), who were outshot 45-20.

SAGUENEENS 6 FOREURS 5 (SO)

CHICOUTIMI, Que. – Thomas Desruisseaux scored the only goal of a three-round shootout as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens defeated the Val-d’Or Foreurs 6-5.

Zachary Gravel scored twice in regulation for the Sagueneens (31-29-3-1), while Romain Rodzinski, Emile Duquet and Loic Usereau netted singles.

Charles-Antoine Beauregard, Zachael Turgeon, Nathan Brisson, Alexandre Guy and William Provost scored for the Foreurs (24-37-2-1).
