The great wait for the Great 8 is over — Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals has tied the late Gordie Howe on the NHL goals list, scoring his 801st tonight at 18:22 of the first period against the visiting Winnipeg Jets and netminder David Rittich. Wayne Gretzky is the all-time leader with 894 goals.
